Last words of Adam (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ)
It was narrated to us by Abu ‘Abdillah ibn Ahmad (1 )[...] that ‘Utayy ibn al-Sa‘d! (2). reported that Ubayy ibn Ka‘b (3) said:
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, ‘When Adam was on his deathbed, Allah sent him a shroud and embalming scent from Paradise.
When Hawa saw the Angels, she grew frightened. Adam said to her,‘Let me be alone with my Lord’s messengers. Because of you, I was afflicted with what I had to endure, and had it not been because of you, nothing of this would have happened.”’
This story is da-if as can be observed from the footnotes regarding its narrators. The authors father, ‘Abdullah ibn Ahmad appears in the chain of narration who is considered to be a da‘if narrator. Muhammad ibn Dhikwan al-Basrl is also considered to be a daif‘ narrator
(1) Abdillah Ibn Ahmed is the authors father, ‘Abdullah ibn Ahmad al-Qadi. He was a jurist and a muhaddith who was the sole narrator of some ahadith. He was considered a da if narrator. Al-Khatlb al-Baghdadi said, “He is not a trusted narrator”
[]The narrator Muhammad ibn Dhikwan was considered a da‘If narrator as mentioned by al-Hafiz ibn Hajar in al-Taqrib.
(2)‘Utayy ibn al-Sa‘dI al-Basrl. He is a thiqah narrator.
(3) Ubay bin Kab was an Ansari Companion who was the chief of his village. He was one of the Companions who participated in the second treaty of al-‘Aqabah. He fought in the Battle of Badr and all the other battles.
